I have two ideas for my 3D character model/animation for this module.
One of them is based on my previously developed character "Cup" (he doesn't have a proper name for now). I developed the story of Cup and Blanketland (I know, very creative again) last year during our Character Animation module - to view my progress blog on that click here. I reached the animatic stage then. It's a stop-motion animation, that I would now like to develop further with some changes, of course, since it's going to be in 3D this time.
The character profile for my character is:
Name Cup (working title)
Age about 18 (if he was human)
Height cup-size
Build build like a 19th century cup, similar to this
Home town Blanketland (working title) looking something like this
Occupation playing with his brothers and sisters, being drunk tea out of.
Likes family, kindness, adventure, curiosity
Dislikes ignorance, the giant, falling, spilling tea
In order to rig the model and be able to animate it I would have to give my cup-character legs and arms. I was thinking of giving him three legs, similar to the running crockery in Beauty and the Beast here and two handles on each side of his "face" serving as arms.
Synopsis:
The story of Cup's adventure is that he wants to wonder off the home tray and explore the existing world around him. He wants to find out what those scurrying objects in the distance are and what else he can discover away from the safe haven of his mother (the teapot) and his brother-cups and sister-cups. After a strenuous journey across the hills and mountains he reaches the next valley to encounter a sugar pot and a milk jug, realising there is much more to his world than just his tea tray.
This is the idea I am leaning towards.
