Character Animation

This page follows the development in Character animation from my second year at Abertay, starting from the bottom of the page.

Flour Sack Animation

Give the video a second to buffer after pressing play. I think it's too short for flash to read it on the first go.

This is my finished flour sack animation. It is just over 5 seconds. The sack walks up to the puddle, gets scared because he doesn't want to get wet. If he was to get wet, the flour would go lumpy. He isn't sure what to do next, turning left and right and decides to dodge (not jump over as some people interpret it) the puddle by jumping to his left. He lands on his face and slides across the ground until he comes to a stop.

Final Animatic - scene 1

Animatic- all scenes

This is the first draft of the stop motion animatic. I included all of the developed scenes with a few sound effects. It is a bit too fast and the tracks are quite short as well as not very fluent, because I don't have the skills to make a whole soundtrack. That's why I made a version for submission with only the first two scenes. See above.

Storyboard

This is the storyboard for the first scene. Since we are not required to present more than 6 panels I didn't, even though my scene for submission will be longer than this.

Emotions

These are some of the emotion "expressions" or in my case poses, since my character doesn't have a face.

Model Sheet

This is my character from front, side and 3/4 view.

Background

This is how I would like the background or surrounding of my potential animation to look like. Faded, soft colours in pastel of blanketland.

Animatic draft

Photobucket

This is the first little animatic I made based on the colour tests and the location shots.

Colour Experiments

These are some colour test I made before deciding on my final look and background design.

Location shots

These are my first test shots for the stop motion, to see how it would look, if I should have background or grass on it and how it would work with the blanket.

I have made a little cup spilling it's tea animation, when I was bored. I decided to build my character design and animatic on that animation. It developed to a stop motion instead of a drawn animation.
